Privacy Policy

Cadmium is a free, open-source tool for coloring hand-drawn animation. This page explains what information the cadmium.app website and the Cadmium desktop app collect, and what happens to it. If you have a question about any of it, email hello@cadmium.app.
The desktop app
- Coloring runs on your own computer. Your drawings, reference frames and project files stay on your machine and are not uploaded to us. The app does not send crash reports or usage statistics.
- The app connects to GitHub to check for new versions and to download the model files it needs. GitHub sees your IP address for those requests, under GitHub's privacy statement.
- In Server Settings you can point the app at a different coloring server, for example one you host yourself. If you do, the frames you colorize are sent to that server, and whoever runs it is responsible for that data.
The website
- Analytics. We use Segment to record page views and basic browser and device information, including your IP address, so we can see how the site is used. Segment stores an anonymous identifier in your browser.
- Hosting and logs. The site runs on Vercel. Ordinary server logs (IP address, page requested, browser, time) are kept briefly for operations and security. Server errors are reported to Sentry and may include the request URL and browser details.
- Third-party content. Pages load a small animation library from Cloudflare's cdnjs, and the account page loads Paddle's script. Links to GitHub, Discord, YouTube and our documentation site take you to services with their own privacy policies.
- We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell personal information.
Accounts and subscriptions
Cadmium no longer requires an account. Accounts from the earlier paid version remain only so that subscribers can manage or cancel their subscription. For those accounts:
- Your name, email address and password (stored hashed) are held by the licensing service we use, Keygen.
- Billing is handled by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record. We never see your full card details.
- Logging in sets a session cookie. Sessions are stored in Upstash Redis and expire after 24 hours.
- Password-reset and subscription emails are sent through Loops.
- Account data will be deleted when the account system is shut down. Email hello@cadmium.app to have yours deleted sooner.
Your choices
- You can block analytics with a browser extension or by disabling third-party cookies. The site works without it.
- You can ask us to show you, correct or delete any personal information we hold by emailing hello@cadmium.app. We honor these requests wherever you live, including the rights provided by the GDPR and the CCPA.
Children
The site and app are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new effective date.
